The History of Suwon Gwanggyo Museum

Suwon Gwanggyo Museum (182, Gwanggyo-ro, Yeongdong-gu) was found within the guidelines of Sustainable New Town Planning Criteria set by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs to preserve the relics discovered in the new town area. The museum’s goal is to offer a comprehensive source of amenities – natural, environmental, historic, and cultural resources – to the greater public in an environment that highlights the beautiful but increasingly destructed local natural environment. The construction was commissioned by Gyeonggido Urban Innovation Corporation and has been donated to Suwon City on October 28, 2013.
Suwon Gwanggyo Museum is Suwon’s largest museum based on donated collections, notably Sogang Min Gwan-sik and Saun Lee Jong-hak. The museum plans to encourage further donations to promote love and pride for the local community.
